The beach of Abram (or otherwise called Abrami) is most well known and is situated at a small cove along the north-western coast of the island, only 20 kilometres from Naxos Town. The journey itself is an experience as you will travel a scenic route which stretches along the top of steep cliffs which are punctuated with small coves with attractive beaches that offer great tranquil views.
Its main characteristic is its exceptional natural beauty as the blue of the sea mixes with the green of the trees in a wonderful colour combination.
The road is asphalt almost all the way to the beach save for the dirt road the last 300 metres, making it an easy to drive to location by car or motorbike. Abram Beach (or bay) is one of the most popular and easily accessible of beaches of northern Naxos and offers a panoramic view of the characteristically Greek blue sea with the nearby islands of Mykonos and Paros in the distance.
It is a delightful and quite secluded beach off season, which is not organized so bringing your own beach umbrella for shade and sun-beds to lie on, is a choice you may want to make. It provides very limited accommodation facilities and choices for eating. Yet, good quality and reasonably priced tasty local food, prepared almost exclusively with local products is right on the beach. Additionally, you will find few rooms to rent (most of which having this wonderful view) right next to the restaurant. All these make the area an ideal spot for those who wish to enjoy a quiet holiday.
Eggares village and Ammitis bay are closest to this location.
For access to facilities post-office, banks, hospitals etc, the town of Naxos is your only option. However, grocery stores and bakery can also be found in the nearby village of Eggares.
Access to this beach from Chora, the port and the airport is easy by private or rental car and rental motorbikes. Local transportation to Apollonas will take you to Abram beach, however, it is not so regular.
